The Aeronautical Information Service in the Republic of Bulgaria is provided by the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) Department of BULATSA. The Republic of Bulgaria is responsible for the aeronautical information published. The aeronautical information published for and on behalf of the Republic of Bulgaria clearly indicates that it is published under the authority of the Bulgarian Civil Aviation Administration with the Ministry of Transport.
The AIS receives and/or originates, collates or assembles, edits, formats, publishes, stores and distributes aeronautical information/data about the whole territory of the Republic of Bulgaria as well as areas in which the State is responsible for the air traffic services outside its territory.
The Aeronautical Information Office consists of:
AIS Department at BULATSA Headquarters;
International NOTAM Office (NOF);
Aerodrome AIS offices at the international aerodromes of Sofia, Varna, Bourgas, Plovdiv and Gorna Oryahovitsa, which are responsible also for the submission of flight plans.
Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP)
The Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) is an official issue of the Republic of Bulgaria containing aeronautical information about the State, in accordance with the ICAO requirements. It constitutes the basic source of permanent aeronautical information and long duration temporary changes.

A NOTAM shall be originated and issued promptly whenever the information to be disseminated is of a temporary nature and of short duration or when operationally significant permanent changes are made at short notice.
